Researchers have found that women suffer more from sleep deprivation than men. We reveal the details of the sleep study.

Your sweetheart hopefully jumps out of bed in the morning, while you would prefer to pull the blanket over your head? You are not alone with that. Researchers at Duke University in North Carolina have found that when women have not slept enough, they wake up in a worse mood than men in the morning. In addition, they suffer more physically and mentally from lack of sleep.

American psychologists took a close look at the sleeping patterns and health of 2, 000 men and women. They found that after a short night more women than men in the morning have a bad mood, as "CBS News" reported in March 2013.

Women who sleep too little also have an increased risk of heart disease and depression. For example, female subjects who did not get enough sleep had an increased blood coagulation factor that could lead to a heart attack.

Sleep deprivation in women more risky

The health of the male sex, on the other hand, seems much less dependent on a certain amount of sleep. Men with sleep problems did not show an increased risk of the typical diseases of sleep-deprived women.

The reason? As men and women have different levels of hormones, sleep experts assume that women need more sleep to regulate their hormonal balance. Well-known beauty sleep is worth gold! Because he does not only make beautiful, but also physically and mentally fit.
