Have not you ever wondered what the flight attendants do while sipping on your drink on a long-haul flight and watching a movie? Of course there is a lot to do, but in between there is time for a break. Only where should the staff spend this? Really much space is not available to him in such a plane. At least that's what we thought for a long time.

In fact, in most large aircraft, such as the Boeing 747, 777, 787 or even the Airbus A380, there is a secret area where aircraft personnel can retreat. Here it can sleep on long-haul flights or just rest for a short while. The well-hidden room can be reached via a narrow staircase, sometimes with a small flap. As a rule, the receipts are marked with the note "Crew only". Of course, passengers should not get lost here.

The small retreat has seating and / or small beds, reading lights and space for personal belongings that can be stowed away during the flight. There are no windows up here. But where exactly is this room located?

The answer is: over your head - at least when you're in Business Class. Normally, the Crew Rest Compartments (CRC), as the room is officially called, are located behind the cockpit in a deck above Business Class. You can look for it on your next flight.

In any case, it is good to know that there is a place where both the flight attendants and the pilots can retire to rest. Such a flight lasting several hours is, after all, quite exhausting for her.
