Eva Brenner: My color ideas for a successful pattern mix

Courage for pattern mix and play of colors

We love order and we love structure. Therefore, we usually tend to design your own four walls using a particular color family or a recurring pattern.

Fixing yourself to a hue or even a fixed pattern is the supreme discipline - everything should fit. But why not dots and checks, pink and green or even a combination of both? Different patterns and color combinations do not mean a wild mess. Do you have the courage to mix patterns and colors?

A playful highlight, true to the motto pattern mix, is a pillow arrangement on the couch: many pillows in a variety of pattern combinations. Everything is desired, from the onion pattern to various florals to checks and dots. The more exciting the pattern mix, the quieter the colors should be. Cushions are not only good for cuddling, they also give the room a fashionable touch. I am always very happy when it is time to set highlights and select the furnishings and decoration at the "home in happiness" construction sites (on Tuesdays, 8:15 pm on RTL II). Since I can hide all static aspects and let my creativity run wild. So that it does not get too wild, here is a little tip for beginners: Uniform root and choose different patterns or vice versa. Without a mini-concept it does not work.

Also on the table wonderful color ideas and pattern mix accents can be set. Here you can work great with placemat, dishes and small accessories. Bright placemats and pastel-colored dishes are a real eye-catcher. If one of the elements still has a fancy pattern, the eye-catcher is perfect. Crockery can now be found in all sorts of colors, patterns and shapes. If you like, you can also put together the dishes as a colorful Allerlei. Then it is important that the rest of the arrangement is kept simple so that the charm is not lost. Finally, the table can be rounded off with glass elements and simple flowers in colored vases.

As a particularly trendy color combinations you can put together blue tones with a strong ocher. If you add a light apricot, you get a strong color concept with a delicate touch. If you like it gaudy, you can reach for red, orange and copper. Softer color compositions work wonderfully with greens and an old pink. Pastel colors make the room generally comfortable and a little more feminine. Grays, gold or silver are always very suitable as another color.

For the home improvement among the readers: Even pieces of furniture can be integrated into the pattern mix. For example, you can buy an old-fashioned upholstered stool from the flea market with a patterned fabric. The combination of old and new has a very special charm and gives the room a romantic flair in a vintage look.

With new inspiration and courage to more color and exciting patterns, I wish all of you much fun in the redesign. Next time, everything revolves around Easter and great ideas for the Easter brunch.

Love your Eva Brenner
