Pests in nut chocolate
Gorgeous, such a piece of chocolate in between. But a man from Dortmund has quickly lost his appetite when he discovers something quite disgusting in it.
Window maker Christian Brandt wanted to sweeten his day with some chocolate, so he bought two plates of Karina chocolate "Edelrahm nut" at Kaufland in Dortmund-Mengede. With relish he ate the first of the two plates. However, when he opens the second, he made a shocking find: thick white maggots crawled out of the pack! These could probably not resist the taste of the sweet delicacy. The blackboard was already covered with silver threads everywhere.
"I'm really not fussy, but I had to get over it right away, " Brandt says in an interview with the Ruhr news. Above all, he was afraid that there were maggots in the other pack that he might have overlooked and accidentally over-cooked. Unfortunately, he will not get an answer to this question so quickly. All plates with the same best-before date (28.02.2015) are already sold out. "Unfortunately, we were therefore unable to determine whether this was an isolated incident or whether the entire batch was affected, " explains Kaufland's Head of Department Senol Aksol. Of course, the case will be forwarded to quality assurance.
In order to vent his anger, Christian Brandt called the manufacturer "Stollwerk". There he is recommended to send a mail with photos of his find. As compensation, they would also send him chocolate and a few stamps. "I do not want stamps, and certainly not chocolates, " says Christian Brandt indignantly. A short time later, Stollwerk apologizes for the inappropriate response, but they still feel no responsibility for the pest infestation of chocolate. "However, it can always happen that pests enter the store when storing chocolate in the store or at the customer's home, " says marketing manager Jan Zuther. Should Christian Brandt contact them again, they would certainly compensate him appropriately. However, Christian Brandt can not return his appetite for chocolate for the time being!
