1905: outdoor sports

In these long, heavy dresses, the women probably sweat themselves with such funny exercises. Skirts and clothes from the sport are not completely gone today (example: tennis player). However, they are much shorter and lighter today than what the ladies were doing at the beginning of the 20th century in their physical exercise.

1908: Gymnastics

What are they doing and what are they doing there? In this photo we see the Danish gymnastic team at the Olympic Games in London in 1908. Of the 2, 008 participating athletes at the time there were only 37 women.

1920: swimming

Especially out there, these ladies should not swim. Because so much stuff can get pretty heavy in the water. Oh, splashing around on the shore is much more fun anyway.

1928: birth preparation

This picture raises three questions. First, why does this lady train in a negligee? Second, why is she wearing Santa Claus boots? Third, what is she training with? We can at least halfway answer the latter. It is a vibrating fitness device.
