The 17-year-old Axelle Despiegelaere was knocked out in the World Cup match Belgium against Russia, her photo landed on the net and was shared a thousand times. When the Belgian learned of the viral echo, she set herself a new profile on Facebook, which quickly had over 25, 000 fans. "I'm the Belgian football fan who suddenly became famous at the World Cup in Brazil, " she wrote. Beauty giant L'Oréal became aware of the pretty girl from Belgium and offered Axelle Despiegelaere a model contract . A real football fairytale!
But then everything changed! For Axelle Despiegelaere not only goes down in history as the prettiest football fanatic, but also as the model with the shortest contract ever!
What happened? The 17-year-old posted a photo of herself next to a lifeless gazelle she had killed herself on her newly created Facebook profile. The less sensitive comment: "Hunting is not life and death, it's much more than that (...) Now I'm ready to hunt the Americans, haha."
A Shitsorm started, which did not leave L'Oréal cold. A spokesman told British Independent: "L'Oréal Professionnel Belgium has spontaneously worked with her to produce a video for social media purposes, and the contract is over." No comment on the photo, the cosmetics company emphasizes, however, that it completely renounces animal testing for the development of its products.
Axelle Despiegelaere said on Facebook: "Hi, I did not want to hurt anyone ... it was just a joke, thanks for your understanding." Then the Belgian public pressure and the debate about her person became too big, her profile is deleted today.
