He is the star of the TV show "Shopping Queen" (VOX), known worldwide as a designer and on the jury of "Das Supertalent" (RTL). But how did the career of Guido Maria Kretschmer begin ?
Guido Maria Kretschmer was born in 1965 in Warendorf near Münster. With a Abitur grade of 1.1, he first began studying medicine. At the age of 20, he met the painter Frank Mutters (with whom he has been married since 2012 and lives in Berlin). One year later, they move together to the Balearic island of Ibiza. When Guido discovers his passion for fashion, he wants to study fashion design in Barcelona. To finance his studies, he sells his homemade clothing on the hippie market in Ibiza.
His breakthrough: jackets for the stage outfit of Udo Lindenberg . Even a stewardess regularly buys Kretschmer's clothes. At some point, she tells the young designer Guido Maria Kretschmer that her boss is looking for someone to develop a uniform for his crew. That's how Guido Maria Kretschmer founded his own company in 1987, just 22 years old: GMK.
