As you do not go to the luck lie

Do you strive for happiness every day because you think you are happier then? Leave it - because you can even do the opposite.

Everyone wants it and hardly anyone has it - what is it? Right: luck! We are convinced that others are happier than us and of course want to copy them. Stupid only that a new study proves: all a luck lie ! Because the pursuit of happiness can even make us unhappy.

Brock Bastian of the Australian University of New South Wales found that constant talk about happiness can make one unhappy. After all, the pursuit of happiness has become something of a social norm for us. We only feel part of society when we strive for happiness - and ideally are always happy. It should be clear to everyone: Good mood can not be enforced - and certainly not at the push of a button.

This very thinking puts us under pressure. It's enough if we have a bad day - and we feel isolated and lonely - and much more intense, than even before the whole happiness hype of our society. You are constantly asked to be in a good mood, to think positively and to laugh non-stop. Experts have long been known: Only those who allow grief, bad mood and bad luck, then appreciate joy, good humor and happiness. The one without the other does not exist - after all, humans love comparisons.

"I do not know anybody who is always happy. But I know many who make just this pressure unhappy, "said bestselling author Wilhelm Schmid in an interview with brandeins. "A good life is one that is reasonably well managed. This is far from what many expect today from a good life, namely long-lasting happiness. "Schmid considers this compulsion to be a lucky lie .

What really makes happy are the little moments in life: when the sun shines on the lunch break. If you drink the first sip of coffee in the morning. If a dear person smiles at you for a moment. If we consciously experience these little moments, we automatically enjoy them more. And: Let yourself be in a bad mood and occasionally accept a day full of faux pas. Then you will be happy even without a request - and that guarantees no side effects!
