Every year again: train ride at Christmas is the hell. But even this year, Deutsche Bahn warns of overflowing trains. Hallelujah!

Anyone using the train app to learn about connections is likely to come across a warning at Christmas this year: abnormally high traffic, a ride can not be guaranteed. Please choose a different connection. All seats in both classes already reserved.

Also on the website of the Deutsche Bahn states: "With seat reservation in the Christmas holiday! On December 23, the long-distance trains of the Deutsche Bahn are already very well booked.We recommend you travel in the festive traffic with a seat reservation."
Clever, who has reserved a seat weeks ago. But that is certainly not all. Because tickets without seat reservation are also sold. If you have such a ticket, unfortunately, there is no guarantee for taking it with you. Of course that is very disappointing. Especially at Christmas. With the so-called Spartickets, the train binding is only canceled when travelers have to leave the train again, because it is too crowded. Whether it is better on the next move, however, can not be guaranteed.
Dodge to first class on the train is not allowed. Even if there should still be space available, railway customers with a ticket for the second class may not move to the first class . A transfer to the first class is only possible after an announcement or release, according to Deutsche Bahn. Even standing in first grade is not allowed.

Anyone forced to travel with Deutsche Bahn on public holidays should try to dodge times that may not be as busy. Who has his ticket, but no seat reservation, can only hope that there is still a small railway miracle on the holidays and a small place is free.
