What has changed in the photo app

A premature Christmas present for all Instagram users: In the photo app, there are now five new filters to choose from. What Slumber, Ludwig, Aden, Crema and Perpetua can do and what else is new.

Phrases like "Quickly put a filter on the image before you post it!" are already part of everyday life. The reason for this are the sensationally good photo filters with which every holiday picture now looks like perfectly staged by professional photographers and Photoshop cracks. And matching all the Christmas and New Year's snapshots in the coming days, the Facebook subsidiary launched an update last night that will bring five new photo filters and more features online. The first filter update since 2012!

The more than 300 million users of Instagram now have to deal with these five new ones: Slumber (foggy retro look), Ludwig (adapted light conditions), Aden (pastel), crema (soft contours) and Perpetua (natural look) offer in addition to the 19 existing filters even more possibilities to paint your own photos.

What else has changed? For a better overview, Instagram also offers the possibility to sort out filters. Also new: Slowmotion video can now be included later.

Today, we're excited to bring you five new photo filters. Inspired by the photography, fashion, and fashion of the global Instagram community, we're releasing five new filters that we believe are our best yet. Slumber, Crema, Ludwig, Aden and Perpetua. They soften and subtly shift colors to achieve the look and feel you want for each photo. To make it easier to choose between filters, we've been updated how they're displayed. A photo of each filter icon on the bottom of the screen is now in progress. This is how you look at each photo. Finally, we know that everyone has their favorite filters. We want to keep things simple as we add more, so we added a new "Manage" button at the end of your filter tray. Tap it to re-arrange the order of your filters and hide the ones you are using. To learn more about the new filters and how to rearrange your filter tray, visit help.instagram.com. Instagram for iOS version 6.4.0 is available today at Apple's App Store, and Instagram for Android version 6.12.0 is available today on Google Play.
