Cover of the year

She is on the cover of the July issue of Australian Women's Weekly: Burnt Victims Turia Pitt. An impressive woman, an impressive story.

It's an unfamiliar sight of a magazine cover: no bright white smile, no flawless complexion and no smooth skin. Turia Pitt has none of this. And yet she has so much more.

Three years ago, Turia Pitt fell victim to a devastating bush fire. Since then, 65% of her body has been marked by severe burns and unsightly scars. Women's Weekly tells the story of a young woman who touches and moves.

The biggest gift: your own life

Turia loves sports. She loves cycling, swimming and running. In 2011, she participates in a 100 km ultramarathon in Australia. During her run, she gets into a devastating bush fire and can be rescued at the very last second. The doctors have little hope, give her only a hint of a chance of survival. But Turia is fighting. And she survives.

She is a fighter

Today, Turia works as a motivational coach and author. She is fighting back to her old life . (...) You have only one life, you can sit around and pity yourself, or you can handle your fate, and I choose the latter, "says the 26-year-old Australian news.com .au. For the past six months, she has cycled through half of Australia, participating in a 20km swimming competition and climbing the Great Wall of China. All for a good cause. Turia Pitt supports the organization 'Interput'. An organization dedicated to reconstruction surgery in developing countries.

Why Turia Pitt? And why now?

" Because she is simply the most impressive woman you can ever meet, " said the Australian Women's Weekly. Beauty is more than shiny hair and radiant skin. " For me, it sends the message that self-confidence means beauty, " says Turia.

'I am the happiest person in the world!'

The July issue of Women's Weekly has not yet been released and is already hotly debated. Some critics already praise it as the 'cover of the year'.

If we believe Turia Pitt, then at least it's the cover with the 'happiest woman in the world'. And that's the most beautiful title the cover can win. Just wow!
