Herself is the woman!

Fresh color comes to the wall! We paint our walls and have 8 tips for easy DIY - then it looks like the pro.

1. Calculate the ink consumption

So that the paint does not run out when painting, always orientate it to the square footage of the room. It is calculated by length times width. In the hardware store, mix the appropriate amount. Caution: Do not forget the blanket, and always calculate a bit more color with woodchip.

2. Always the right role

Not every role is right for any surface. Plastered walls are best painted with short-fluted rollers, woodchip wallpaper better with long-pile rollers. Optimal: Always buy a small 10 cm roll and a large 25 cm roll. Telescopic poles help with painting the ceilings.

3. Prepare well

To protect furniture, floor and strips, the masking and covering is important, for. B. with Malervlies, cover and masking tape. Important: Again, there are differences. The wrong tape can replace the plaster.

4. Corners and edges first

Before going to the wall surfaces, always paint edges, edges and corners - first with a flat brush, then with the small roll to better blur transitions. Important: Paint the large areas as long as the edges are wet - the ceiling first.

5. From dark to light

Always stroke with the light - so away from the window. This avoids approaches that are especially visible at oblique incidence of light. For even appearance, apply enough paint to the roller, wipe off the wiper and then work from top to bottom. Always put a piece into the already painted wet field.

6. Pause well

Every home improvement needs a break to recharge your batteries. So that the paint rollers and brushes do not dry out during this time, simply wrap in a plastic bag.

7. Blotting allowed

Even with the pros something goes wrong. Important, however: wipe off any possible splashes of paint with a damp cloth while they are still wet. Reason: After drying, the color loses its water solubility. And then the removal can be tedious.

8. Exercise in patience

Yes, the newly painted walls look nice. And most of all we would like to hang up our pictures immediately. But: The paint must first dry for at least six hours. Thorough airing helps against the color smell.
