TV presenter Alida Gundlach

After hosting the NDR Talk Show more than 200 times and interviewing world stars such as Sir Peter Ustinov or Goldie Hawn, she has a lot to tell. But when I meet Alida Gundlach (66) in Jesteburg near Hamburg, where she has been living for nine years after moving from Mallorca, this time she is concerned about her own life. And about the sympathetic TV presenter, book author and singer (new album: "time") has a lot of interesting to report ...

Ms Gundlach, 2008 you have canceled performances. Since then you have disappeared from the scene. Alida Gundlach: I was very ill for months. I had a hearing loss. Since then I only have a 20 percent hearing on the left ear. I'll even buy a hearing aid now. I'm completely unreal. Many years ago you had serious health problems. Alida Gundlach: But I never gave up. When I had cancer of the lower abdomen 20 years ago, I met a lot of people in the clinic, to whom I pledged courage and who were also good for my soul. With a woman who had already given up, I still have a close friendship. She wanted to die. I sat down by her bed and said: "So, now we wash the hair! Now we look forward to visit! "And she survived the cancer like me. Get up again! This is my story. So from your blows, have you always pulled something good? Alida Gundlach: Yes, in my life I have often been slapped one after the other. I know ups and downs professionally, I experienced hard times in partnerships. But I've always said to myself: After a mental depression comes a high. Nothing will be bad forever. Likewise, there is no eternal happiness. That's the way it is in life. And if you accept that and you know, you will survive any serious crisis. So you think a positive attitude to life is the first step out of a crisis? Alida Gundlach: If you're in the middle of the dirt, you can not imagine that, of course. But when you've experienced that a few times like me, you know it's going to happen. Looking forward has always been my life-giving talent in sad times. Do you also see such experiences as an advantage of old age? Alida Gundlach: Yes, the great thing about old age is the life experience. As a mature person, I consider much much calmer, because over the years I have learned to deal with problems. This is definitely a big advantage of old age. Are you looking forward to becoming older without fear? Alida Gundlach: I'm not afraid of old age! It is very important to accept each period. Life experience is something very valuable. Alida Gundlach's new book: "Together or not at all - how generations can benefit from each other" has been published by Verlag Südwest and is now available for sale for 17.95 euros.
