Which parts may remain in the cabinet?

Maxi author Marlene Sørensen clarifies questions of good taste. Of course, extremely subjective. This time it's about: dress separation

It started with the fact that a few days ago the boxes were delivered for the move - 25 pieces for two rooms collected life. I thought, maybe I sort through the fashion magazines first, because with something you have to start and certainly not with the wardrobe.

I'm more sentimental about clothes than a Bette-Midler-Schnulze.

And similarly unrealistic. I can not throw anything away, not even the T-shirt, which has been on the top shelf for three years with a red wine stain on the chest. Can it be that someone invents an industrial cleaner, with the stain goes out.

In one of the fashion magazines was that you should dispose of all the clothes that you have not worn for more than a year. Aha. Accordingly, I could sort out 17 of 20 jeans immediately.

On the other hand: Did not I recently searched for my old flared pants, which I had given away and had to buy the 21st jeans? And I've had my trench coat for three years now and I'm sure I'll wear it for the next 15 years. So I can not go on according to this principle.

For safety, try everything again!

Maybe with this: everything that I'm unsure of trying on again. If I think about it for more than five minutes, or lose five pounds to make it fit: get away with it. The first is a crop top turtleneck (?), Pleated skirts (!), A red patterned blouse that makes me dizzy at the sight, and some beach dresses that have never seen a beach and never see one before. As well as everything, in which I look like an MTV presenter around 1997.

This kind of mucking requires a certain mercilessness.

And perseverance. After two hours fitting I'm tired of laughing fits between babydolls, leggings and - wahh! - white linen pants on the floor. Did you know, for example, that you do not look like Kate Moss, but like a turkey on a rope, with a lime-colored glitter scarf? Delicious! Or that you have the shoulders of a Hungarian butterfly swimmer in a tube top?

To scream! In delirium, I put on my floppy hat one last time and the corduroy mini skirt - and meet with a friend for coffee. She calms down only when I assure her that I will dispose of both.

My wardrobe is now half empty, but full of things that I really wear.

And some that I'll never put on again but never give could stay. A washed out green T-shirt - summer 94, the farewell gift from the first big love. An army parka - for years my favorite jacket. Cowboy boot with python pattern. The sole has peeled off, the leather has burst, but like an old snapshot, I can not throw them away just because they are a bit yellowed.

There is still room for that. And now I close the last box. Bye.

Never do it: sort out the lassic parts. Trench coats, white shirts and wrap dresses never go out of fashion. In the autumn z. B. again very popular: the blazer and the little black dress (not necessarily together)

Make sure you dispose of seasonal trends. From this summer: star prints, 80s colors, babydoll dresses.

Remember: The more thoroughly you clean up, the more room for new things!
