Water can have a healing effect ...

It is the origin of life. Water enlivens all our senses, is the engine of our metabolism. It invigorates and nourishes every body cell. And used properly, it can even heal

In the beginning was the water. In him the secret of our existence lies hidden. It is the source of life, cradle of all being. Water envelops us protectively before our birth.

Later, it is found in all body cells that make up to 75 percent of water. Embedded in it, enzymes and nutrients swim together with sodium and potassium ions. Water is the fuel of our metabolism, allowing the transport of vitamins and trace elements.

However, water also covers about 70 percent of our planet, shaping landscapes and climate, can remove mountains and bring deserts to bloom.

Water is the symbol of vitality, sensuality, reassurance and cleansing. And it can even heal. For example, Richard Russell, a physician from England, discovered in 1750 that diseased lymph nodes were reduced again by treatment with seawater. During the 18th century, there were more and more spas offering thalasso treatments.

Healing in the sensory bath

The water itself acts as a gentle massage. The spine and the intervertebral discs are relieved. The muscles are relaxed, the mobility improves.

Warm water relieves tension, breathing gets deeper - body and mind can relax. The optimum well-being temperature: 34 degrees. Our bathroom becomes a sensual experience through good additions, and we can put these together ourselves.

After a tiring day, the following mixture gives us sweet dreams: to 2 tablespoons of almond oil we give each 5 drops of lavender oil and lemon balm - mix well. Attention, the essential oils go by quickly, so not too early, but only in the already entered bathing water. The essential oils of both lavender and lemon balm relieve nervous tension, soothe and promote a deep sleep and pleasant dreams .

Dive in the water and refuel

Even more effective than a feel-good bath at home is a visit to the brine bath or floating tank. This is two and a half meters long, just under a half feet wide, about the same height. Therein: 30 to 40 centimeters deep, body-warm salt water, almost saturated and thus concentrated enough to carry us. We are floating, dreaming. To sharpen our senses.

Neuroendocrinologist John Turner and psychologist Thomas Fine of the Ohio Medical College have discovered in their numerous floating tests, among other things, that a session in the tank relieves pain and elicits euphoric feelings. "Floating stimulates the body to release endorphins, " explains Fine.

The bath in salt water increases the mental strength and support the regeneration, so the researchers. Repeated stays in the floating bath promote creativity and concentration, even protect against burnout. Floating tanks are available in every major city.

Water for the beauty

Water is also a true beauty elixir. A radiant skin needs one thing above all else: water - from outside and inside.

Cosmetics provide our skin with moisture from the outside. They therefore contain plenty of water and substances that are supposed to bind this in the skin. But these care products do not penetrate into the deep layers. We can only fill up the moisture depots lying there from the inside.

A refreshing summer drink: pour water into a glass carafe, add a few sprigs of mint leaves and lemon slices and cool in the fridge - the perfect thirst quencher is ready on hot days.

The water provides our cells with energy and nutrients, menthol from the mint stirs and the essential oils of the lemon have a mood-enhancing effect.

Whether we drink enough, shows a simple test: Grasp the skin on the back of the hand with your thumb and forefinger, pull it up and release it. The skin fold should smooth immediately. The faster the skin does it, the better. If the skin fold stops, there is water distress in the cells - it lacks about three to four liters of liquid!

Researcher of the Franz Volhard Center of the Berlin Charité headed by Dr. med. med. Michael Boschmann showed in a study that drinking half a liter of tap water after only ten minutes measurably promotes the circulation of the skin and its supply with oxygen. The metabolism is activated and the energy expenditure increased. And all our senses are revived. Totally natural.

Water content in the body: This value is healthy and you can do that in case of a deficiency

Invigorating knee nuts

"Water is the very first, most excellent and most common remedy for the human body, " said pastor Sebastian Kneipp (1821-1897) and developed a recognized healing process from water applications such as baths, fountains and ablutions: the so-called Kneipp cure.

Many applications can be used at home. Ideal in summer : the knee-kiss. When sitting or standing, guide the cold stream out of the hose of the hand shower (without shower head) from the back of the right foot on the outside of the leg to just above the knee. Stay for a short while and "water" the largest possible area of the right lower leg. Then guide the jet of water on the inside of the right leg to the heel. The same left; both legs alternately until a slight reddening of the skin appears. Wipe off the water with your hands and move your legs vigorously. Effect: The cold stimulus pulls the blood vessels in the upper and lower leg together and trains the muscles in the vessels.

Water is a treat for the skin

A sea salt bath purifies, relieves inflammation and tightens the skin. But it also provides relief for atopic dermatitis or psoriasis.

For a sea salt bath, about 30 to 80 grams of sea salt per liter are dissolved in warm water. As a result, the salt releases its valuable ingredients to the bathwater, which can penetrate deep into the skin. Bathe for 15 to 20 minutes at 28 to 38 degrees. Then shower briefly to lukewarm to close the pores. Rest for an hour so that the bath can work.
