Often a car can also stand for our personal space. If we control the car ourselves in the dream, that may mean that we want to reach a certain goal. If we are the co-driver, that probably means we are leaving the responsibility for our lives to someone else. Being alone in a vehicle emphasizes our independence. If we press the brake, it shows the ability to keep a situation under control.
The car as a personal space
A traffic accident can point to the fear of failing in life. If the car is on fire, it may be responsible for physical and mental stress. If one's own vehicle is overtaken on the road, then in real life we may be afraid of being separated from others by other occupations or being lost in other situations. On the other hand, reversing signals that you are reluctant to relapse or that you have a need to revise a decision.
