Ice cream, waffles, maple syrup, espresso ... delicious!
The inventor of the Cronuts has a new, delicious idea: a waffle made of ice cream, topped with a maple syrup espresso. In short: Waffogato ! Tasty ... We should have it now!
"I love to combine things with each other, " says chef Dominique Ansel, whose croissant donut mix made for long queues in front of SoHo Bakery - and created worldwide media coverage.
The inspiration for his latest kitchen coup: the Italian dessert "Affogato al caffè", a scoop of ice cream, poured over with a dash of espresso, and childhood memories of how his French mother made him waffle.
The result is a waffle-shaped ice cream topped with warm maple syrup and espresso. Once the ice melts, the flavors of tapioca and Belgian waffles mix. "After all, it's a little milkshake in the cup, " says Ansel.
"Waffogato" will be available from mid-May for about $ 7 at SoHo Bakery in New York. Who is already lining up with us in line?
