A real gain of space

The nursery has become vacant? Take the opportunity and make it your workplace and retreat in one. We show how it is nice and comfortable.

Previously

If the children are drawn out, the question arises what will become of the vacated room. Here, the large windows and the many natural light inspired the parents to a home office and relaxation room. First of all, the damaged gray carpet and the charmless blinds should be replaced. And clearly on the plan: a fresh wall paint.

later

For the new use of the room was overhauled: The gray carpet gave way to bright parquet, the walls were painted in fresh rosé. The decor is in subtle white, warm accented with wood tones. The centerpiece is the perfectly fitted wall unit with integrated workplace. Carpet, curtains, pillows and fresh flowers counteract a sober office atmosphere. Tip: Unique pieces such as the classic Thonet-style desk chair add a personal touch.

division of labor

The 16 square meter room was divided into two zones in the middle: To the right of the door is the office area, where earlier in the nursery the shelf with books and Co. was placed. Two desks can now work in parallel. Opposite the carpet marks the cozy part of the room. Armchairs and bookshelves invite you there for mental relaxation.

For the thought break

In our big before-and-after cosiness is far ahead despite work. With a more unusual design, even cabinets and shelves gain a homelike quality. The game with open and closed fronts and the staggered arrangement make here the simple closets an eye-catcher.

Wall shelves "Bestå", as shown approx. 180 €, carpet "Alhede", 160 x 240 cm, approx. 149 €: Ikea. Armchair "Theo", 96 x 86 x 84 cm, about 469 €: Octopus. Side table "Élysée", H 46 cm, Ø 50 cm, ca. 526 €: Ligne Roset

career ladder

The coat rack made of two crossed ladders also serves as a 3-D mood board: journals and fabric patterns can be clearly laid out on its rungs.

Clothes rack "Passe Passe", 173 x 46 cm x 41 cm, c. 290 €: Ligne Roset. Picture frame "Fjällsta", 40 x 50 cm, ca. 16 €: Ikea

3 tips for the home office at a glance

If you work a lot, it should be nice. If you pay attention, the home office becomes your favorite place:

Personal touch: Photos, books and flowers make the workplace look friendlier and not too functional.

Beautiful materials: Do not reduce everything to factual white and gray - a noble wooden surface, a fluffy carpet or a colorful fabric liven up the senses and sweeten the work.

Storage space: Order is also half the success in the private office: closed cupboards conceal work material and thus leave more room for comfort.
