Video: Open your eyes, not the internet!

A child dies because of a smartphone

With the video "Open your eyes, not the internet", the Heinrich Hertz School in Hamburg has recorded an important message that all people should take to heart.

One would rather not look, because one suspects from the beginning that the little girl in the video something bad will happen.

The cute little girl is traveling with her sister in the city center of Hamburg . She happily holds the hand of her big sister and looks around curiously in the big pedestrian precinct. Her sister is staring at her phone all the time.

Pling Pling Pling, it is constantly peeping, one message after the other distracts the young woman from everything around her. The reality? Not as exciting as the action on the phone screen.

When the little girl lets go of her hand and disappears into the pedestrian zone, she does not even notice!

When she finally realizes that her sister has disappeared without a trace in the big city, a desperate search begins - which unfortunately does not end happily. The girl is hit and dies.

Nobody paid attention to her. All the people she met stared at their cell phones and did not notice the little girl. The driver of the car was distracted by a cell phone.

Therefore: Open your eyes, not the internet!

The message of the video concerns us all and we should take them all to our hearts. Because we do not all just look at our phones instead of paying attention to our fellow human beings? How many needy people have we overlooked?

The video was produced for the theme evening "Chances and Risks of Media Communication" at the Hamburg Heinrich Hertz School. Hats off for this great project that will hopefully open the eyes of many people!
