Very dangerous body jewelry

Can that really be? Tattooed eyeballs are now expected to become a new trend among Jamaican dancehall artists.

Tattoos have always been easy on Jamaican dancehall artists. Among other things, they serve to differentiate themselves from other subgenres. But with conventional tattoos it should not stay. Some rappers have now discovered a new trend for themselves: they actually tattoo their eyeballs.

Already last year the hitherto not so well-known dancehall artist Alkaline made headlines when he showed himself with striking dark eyes. Alkaline answer in the video: "Yes, I have tattooed my eyeballs." At the time, no one really wanted to believe that Alkaline actually tattooed the eyeballs. Just a few weeks later, videos appeared on the net to prove that everything is just a huge fake. But Alkaline continues to testify and insists on the authenticity of tattoos.

Dancehall colleague Mace has also had his eyeballs tattooed. He is unfortunately an example of how dangerous this process really is. For the young artist almost went blind due to his unusual tattoo wish. According to noisy.vice.com, he had to be rushed to the hospital as the upper layer of his eye was pierced while tattooing.

It remains to be seen how far the new trend will actually extend. However, one thing should be clear: Especially with such a sensitive body part as the eye, the risk of injury and infection is of course particularly high. This raises the question: Is it worth a tattoo to possibly lose his sight?
