Paper bags are now the norm. Now the electronics giants Saturn and Media Markt are catching up. Again, there will be no more plastic bags in the future.

Since 2014, Saturn and Mediamarkt have also been paying for the bags. Now they are supposed to disappear completely.

Before the introduction of paper bags and the cost of plastic bags, every German used around 76 plastic bags per year. That's about 6.1 billion plastic bags a year. Around one trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide. Especially non-European countries are the main cause. Most of the bags end up in the sea and make up a large part of the huge rubbish carpets on the seas.

With the ban on plastic bags, Saturn and the media market are certainly taking a good path. However, paper bags are always in the criticism, the paper is also a limited raw material, which consumes a lot of resources and energy in its production.
