The sun is shining, the palm leaves are dancing in the wind, and the turquoise sea is inviting for a swim. We are in paradise - in the Maldives! Here Susanne Uhlen turns with her colleagues for "The Dream Hotel" (broadcast January 2011, ARD). In the breaks, the actress shows us the most beautiful sides around the "Hilton" hotel "The Beach House" on the island of Manafaru. The new leaf: how do you like it here?
Susanne Uhlen: I have never experienced a country in which the soul is so caressed. Nevertheless, of course, I would have liked to have my husband with me.
Did you and Henry Dawidowicz (44) secretly get married?
Susanne Uhlen: No, but we've been a couple for almost 15 years, we live together, he's just my husband!
Wedding is not an issue?
Susanne Uhlen: Henry has already made an application to me after one week. So far, the marriage certificate was not so important to us, so we have postponed the wedding again and again. Besides, our mothers got very sick, that was a hard time, we had other worries. One day we will marry for sure.
So you are not afraid of the wedding?
Susanne Uhlen: For God's sake, no. I look forward to it!
What do you love about Henry?
Susanne Uhlen: That on the one hand he is a very responsible and disciplined businessman and on the other hand he is a big boy who loves his motorcycles and fast cars. He is spontaneous and has many ideas. He can show his feelings, is romantic. We complement each other perfectly.
Her husband is ten years younger. Are you afraid that one day he might leave you for a younger one?
Susanne Uhlen: No. But you never have a guarantee that a relationship will last forever. This has nothing to do with age. If we parted, and there was a younger woman in the game, then it would be coincidence. It could just be a woman my age.
Besides, you are very happy ...
Susanne Uhlen: Yes and Henry makes me feel that I am his center of life. If we are separated for professional reasons, we call daily. He loves me over everything, we've been through so much together. All this brought us even closer together. We are soulmates and want to grow old together, only that counts!
You even have a pilot's license. Do you fly now to your sons who live in England?
Susanne Uhlen: Henry and I got the pilot's license, that's right. He also has a license for the helicopter. At the beginning, I was really wondering if I could do it all. It was so much technique to learn. But it worked and I'm happy today that I can spontaneously fly to England to see my boys. That is fun. But I always fly with a so-called "safety pilot", never alone. Although our aircraft, a Cirrus 22, is considered a safe machine, and there is a parachute as well, I feel just better if there is anyone left.
How do you think your sons, when mom comes jetted with the plane?
Susanne Uhlen: They think that's great. My younger son Christopher is 22 years old and is studying graphic design in London, Florian, the older one is 33. He is a Doctor of Philosophy and a lecturer at the University of Cambridge - and is like his brother! I am very proud of my sons.
Are you sad that the boys live so far away from you?
Susanne Uhlen: No, I think it's great how the two go their own way. And for Henry and me that is also quite nice, to make a trip from Cologne to London. In addition, the two often come to us, especially in the semester break. I let her go because I love her. And that's why they always like coming back to me. That's a nice feeling.
