You need that

For the birds:

  • about 4 g of any yarn
  • one double needle play and one crochet hook No. 2-3
  • some filling material for stuffing (eg about 20 g raw wool)
  • Needle and thread for the eyes

For the feet:

  • Galvanized steel wire, 1.5 mm thick
  • Universal paint
  • tongs
  • spar
  • Special adhesive for metal

For the Inca hats:

  • each little wool "Merino Extrafine 120" from Schachenmayr (LL 120 m / 50 g) in the colors green (print 170), red (print 131), yellow (print 121) and pink (print 137) (1 Color Combo) or in Red (Fb. 131), Purple (Fb. 146), Blue (Fb. 165) and Yellow (Fb. 121) (2nd color combo)

And this is how it's done:

Knitting tension:

More important than the choice of yarn itself is the stitch test. Because when you stuff the birds with the filling material, they must not be so loosely knit that the filling between the stitches can be seen. We therefore recommend that all loose knitters use needle sizes that are less than half or even millimeters thicker than usual. No matter what yarn quality, our birds have a stitch sample of about 30 stitches and 40 rows on 10 cm. Further information can be found in the instructions.

ROUND 13: * 1 st in the right, 2 sts on the right, 1 st on the right *, from * 3 more times (= 12 sts). Cut the thread long and pull the thread end through the remaining 12 sts. Lay the top and bottom of the tail precisely and sew them together flat. Stuff the bird with stuffing. Sew up the opening on the head. Crochet the beak. Decorate the finished bird with stitches as desired.

Working out:

When the tail is finished, insert a pin and push it outward so that the stitches line up nicely. The abdomen is knitted in rows right and left, like the heel of a sock. Make sure that the stitches on the stomach do not become too loose. This danger threatens especially with the turning pockets. We put on too loose stitches and then either cut the long thread from this loop and knot it or we can hang the noose and continue to knit until we take this noose up on the needle and knit together with a stitch. If the long sling is to be knitted with a stitch after putting on the loosely knitted stitches, we always take the first stitch of a needle. If you lift the noose onto the needle and knit it with the last stitch of a needle, the noose becomes visible. The bird's body is stuffed with raw wool or pillow stuffing. You can also use thread remnants of other knitting projects as filling material. To do this, card the thread ends and then stuff with the knitted bird. Now you can decorate the bird with stitches as desired.
