What should not be missing on the sofa? Right, a cozy cover. The matching knitting instructions are available from us.
Knitting, without needles? What sounds so hard to imagine is not that difficult with the right technology. 'Armstricken' is the technique that works without any needles and for which you need nothing but your arms. With the arm-knit technique you can knit especially coarse-meshed pieces such as cuddly blankets, stoles and scarves. In our guide, we'll show you how to knit a cover for your sofa .
That's what you need:
- Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick (80% acrylic, 20% wool, 170 g / 80 m run length): 2 balls each in color 105 Glacier (A), 099 Fisherman (B) and 106 Sky Blue (C)
- 2 skeins Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Metallics (79% acrylic, 20% wool, 1% polyester, 170 g / 84 m in length) in color 307 Mystical (D)
That's how it works:
ARMSTRICK BASIC GUIDE: see below
SQUARE 1 (knit two of them) Pick up two threads A and two threads B at the same time (four threads in total), pull out four forearm lengths, making 15 stitches.
Twelve rows of re str.
Bind off.
SQUARE 2 (two of them knit)
Pick up two threads C and two threads D at the same time (four threads in total), pull out four forearm lengths and cast on 15 stitches.
Twelve rows of re str.
Bind off.
Complete
Lay the squares in two rows of two each. The same color squares should be diagonally to each other. Sew the upper two squares together with the thread ends vertically in the middle. Knot the ends securely. Connect the bottom two squares as well. Work the horizontal middle seams with other thread ends and knot well again. At the end sew all ends clean.
TIP:
So that the seams on the finished blanket are not too thick, they can also be sewn with only two of the four threads that were used for knitting.
