DIY idea with potato print

Lanterns are perfect for romantic evenings at home. The warm candlelight transforms any room immediately into a cozy oasis of well-being.

You need this for the lantern:

  • potato
  • Cookie cutter maple leaf (from cookie cutter set leaves eg from Amazon, about 11 Euro)
  • Ink pad in red and yellow
  • Copy of an old letter or page of a book
  • Fabric remnants of linen
  • Lanterns in different sizes (eg from the depot)
  • transparent double-sided adhesive tape (eg from tesa)
  • Nature tape
  • Stumpenkerze
  • kitchenknife
  • household paper

And that's how easy it is:

1. Halve the potato lengthwise with the kitchen knife.

2. Place the cookie cutter on the cut surface. Press into the potato half and pull out again.

3. Now cut the shape around with the kitchen knife. Leave a stalk for the leaf.

4. Using household paper, pick up the leaking liquid from the potato.

5. First coat the potato completely with the yellow ink pad and stamp on the paper. Immediately press the potato lightly and not completely into the orange ink pad and stamp the same spot again so that the colors mix. Let it dry well.

6. Place the fabric strip around the lantern and secure with double-sided adhesive tape. Cut out the dried motif or cut a label from it. Tie with natural ribbon. OR (the back of the candle) cut a strip of paper, place it around the glass and fix it with the tape.

7. Put candles in the glasses.
