Elixir of life from the kitchen

Only two tablespoons daily for a long, healthy life: These fats are pure medicine.

Fat makes you fat. Whether solid or liquid, it puts the veins and endangers the heart. Is fat really that harmful? No! As so often, that's only half the story. The truth is: this is true of animal fats if you eat too much of it. But: Our body needs fats very urgently - as a building material for cells, as a regulatory substance for the immune system, even for the brain. And these really valuable fats all come from plants. Therefore, nutritionists advise to replace animal fats as often as possible with high quality vegetable oils. Now there are many of them. But research shows which edible oils are especially healthy - linseed, canola and olive oil. The great thing is that there are three that you get everywhere. The important thing is that they are cold pressed (native). Then they are full of healthy vital substances. Read why two tablespoons daily of any of these oils are super healthy.

Good mood with linseed oil

The oil of flaxseed smells airy of hay, its taste is slightly nutty. Nutritionists complain that hardly anyone knows how healthy linseed oil is. And finally, you can use it too versatile.

The effects of linseed oil

Linseed oil is particularly valuable with its high omega-3 fatty acid content. It delivers up to 55 grams per 100 grams. Even the often recommended sea fish like herring and mackerel can not keep up. The body can not make Omega 3 itself, so it depends on regular replenishment. Linseed oil keeps the veins flexible, prevents arteriosclerosis, reduces blood pressure in the long run and can inhibit the growth of cancer cells. And it's good for the soul, as new studies show: Omega 3 works against depressive mood, promotes the mind and raises the mood.

Tips

Native organic linseed oil should only be bought in small bottles so that it always stays fresh. Store tightly closed in the refrigerator. Then linseed oil is a great, aromatic companion to quark, for example: just mix a teaspoon of oil with 100 grams of quark. Linseed oil should not be used for frying, because it suffers the taste. Ideal and versatile it is in the cold kitchen, it gives especially salads a mild-nutty aroma.

The oil from the seeds of the rape plant tastes distinctively nutty. Who likes it milder, takes rapeseed oil. For this edible oil, the black seeds are peeled before pressing. This is how bitter aromas from the skin do not get into the oil.

The mode of action of rapeseed oil

Whether normal native rapeseed oil or the kernel oil - it is the shooting star in the diet. It offers an ideal ratio of omega-3 to the equally important omega-6 fatty acids. They lower blood fats, harmful cholesterol and dilute the blood. Rapeseed oil also provides a lot of vitamin E, which eliminates carcinogenic free radicals. This vitamin also supports the immune system. Studies show that rapeseed oil regulates the immune system and relieves inflammation. This can even help with rheumatism. Good for the defense - and for the eyes - is lutein, which is also abundant in the oil.

Tips

Rapeseed oil gives a special touch to potato salads, salad dressings and dips. With native rapeseed oil you can cook well and steam. For roasting, refined (heat) oil is better. It is referred to only as rapeseed oil and contains no evidence such as "cold pressed" or the like. Do not use rapeseed oil for frying because it can develop a fishy aroma.

Fruity-aromatic - the olive oil gives us the flair of the Mediterranean. Good to know: Grade 1 olive oil is referred to as "extra virgin" or "extra virgin". Extra virgin olive oil (or virgin olive oil) is also cold pressed, but has a bit more unfavorable saturated fat.

The mode of action of olive oil

In Greece, Italy and Spain, where a lot of olive oil is consumed, the heart attack rate is significantly lower than in Germany. This is due to the substance oleuropein. Studies show that it makes the arteries much more flexible - this lowers the blood pressure. And the many monounsaturated fatty acids from olive oil reduce harmful cholesterol particularly well. All this effectively protects against heart attack and stroke. In addition, there is vitamin E in it, which lowers the risk of colon cancer, according to new studies. And: The oleic acid from olive oil directly promotes our satiety. This compensates for the high calorie content (nine kilocalories per gram) common to all edible oils.

Tips

The all-rounder with its intense fresh taste tastes wonderful in salads. Olive oil is also very suitable for marinating vegetables and meat (especially with garlic), as a dressing on mozzarella and sheep's cheese. Olive oil can also be taken for a healthy roast.

The three edible oils can also be used externally as an effective home remedy.

earache

A little drafts may be enough to make the mucous membrane in the ear canal inflamed and cause earache. Naturopaths then recommend olive oil. It inhibits inflammation and soothes mucous membranes. Just drip a drop into the ear, close it in the ear canal with a little cotton wool. The oil spreads well in the ear. The cotton wool is left to sit for at least one hour. This is repeated until the pain subsides.

Ingrown nails

This can hurt a lot and ignite the nail bed. Help: soften and disinfect the nail and surrounding tissue with linseed or rapeseed oil. For this purpose, soak a cotton ball with the oil and fix it with a narrow gauze bandage for an hour around the nail. Repeat several times a day. If the pain has subsided, you can carefully try to cut the nail with tiny cuts.

Irritated skin

Dry, flaky, red: When the skin itches, olive oil helps. It penetrates deeply and helps to retain moisture. Rub the skin at least twice a day with a few drops of oil.

To detoxify

Do you know oil pulling? It fights caries and putrefaction bacteria - and stimulates the salivary glands, which also function as detoxification organs. Before breakfast, take a tablespoon of olive oil in your mouth and relax for at least ten minutes and gently rinse in your mouth, through your teeth. Then you spit out the liquid and rinse your mouth several times with warm water that you spit out. If you do not like olive oil, choose a different variety.
