Sometimes life is so hard: The young mother Marcia Pflichta (36) loses her 5-year-old son Matteo in a tragic accident on a railroad crossing in northern Germany. But instead of despairing, after only a few days, the woman struggles to ensure that her son does not die in vain.
A week ago, the horror crash happened: The Hamburg family spent a day on the beach in St. Peter-Ording. On the way back you will cross an unmarked level crossing at Garding. The grandfather (64) of little Matteo was at the wheel. With his little sister (2), the mother and grandma (64). The car is picked up by a regional train and towed twelve meters. For Matteo, any help comes too late. The rest of the family is injured in the hospital. How it came to the accident is so far not clear.
Matteo's mother - who works as a moderator for Bible TV among others - demanded from the hospital on the website change.org that there should be no more unrestricted level crossings . There she writes:
"Just before the farm, where we went on vacation, our car was hit by a train! And NO ONE of us 5 inmates saw or heard him coming! This terrible accident claimed the life of my 5 year old son Matteo, my father is critically injured at the head and torso in the KH, my mother and I are also with fractures on the pelvis, hip and chest in the KH. My almost two-year-old daughter has gotten by a miracle only scratches.
I demand from Deutsche Bahn as soon as possible to limit all unrestricted level crossings, or at least to make it significantly safer, because no matter what it costs, every additional human life is worth more! "
Matteo's mother has gone through such terrible things, but she still tries to convince others of the dangers of unchecked level crossings. We find this way of mourning very brave and hope that no railroad crossing will require more human life.
