The buttoned belted dress is a classic that always fits. With hardly any other garment, the perfect look is so uncomplicated. Slip it on, shoes and bag - the outfit to feel good is ready.
It was once born out of necessity. In the 40s, the fabrics were scarce everywhere. The solution: a simple one piece instead of skirt and blouse. Cut above like a men's shirt, the dress has a button placket, usually a lapel collar and narrow waist seams. In the 1950s, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly put their preferences into perspective. The dress became a fashion favorite that sometimes hung casually, sometimes elegantly in every wardrobe: from the petticoat version in the 50s to the safari model in the 70s and 80s shoulder padded dresses to the current jeans look .
