The black winter radish is a spicy, bulbous vegetable that is easy to prepare. Especially because of its healthy ingredients you should plan it more often once in your diet.

Experts believe that the origin of the black radish is in the eastern Mediterranean, where it was mined by the Egyptians as an oil supplier some 4, 000 years ago. These substances contained in black radish have a cleansing, expectorant, antibacterial, anticonvulsant and calming effect.

But even with digestive problems, the healthy winter radish has proven itself, as the active ingredients contained on the one hand stimulate the bowel movements and on the other also promote the formation of gastric juice. The tuber can also promote bile flow and thus help to prevent gallstones.

Because of its healthy ingredients, easy preparation and varied recipes, you should plan the tuber more often in your diet. Unlike the summer radish, you do not necessarily have to peel the black winter variety, unless the shell is heavily corked. A thorough cleaning of the tuber is sufficient in most cases. Afterwards you can simply cut the black radish into fine slices if you like and eat it raw - for example as a sharp highlight in a salad or on bread. Salt the vegetables slightly to soften the sometimes pungent sharpness. The black winter radish can also be easily processed into a soup and can thus have a beneficial effect on a cold, for example, as the various oils rid the airways.
