According to the "List of trade names for fishery and aquaculture products", shrimp should not be sold as scampis. Now the Hamburg competition headquarters wants to get involved.

What is the difference between shrimp and scampis?

Scampi are more like small lobsters. They have scissors and a wide caudal fin. It is only available in tomboy. One kilo of sea creatures costs about 30 euros. Shrimp are cheaper. They cost about 13 euros per kilo and often come breeding farms in Asia. Shrimp have a firm, crisp meat. Scampi taste more like lobster.

If you really want to be sure that the right dish is on the plate, it's best to show the animal or the packaging.
