And because everything is a little different during pregnancy, the immune system of pregnant women is weakened by the conversion of hormones. This means that bacteria and viruses can do more harm to mother and unborn baby.

Toxoplasmosis and listeriosis are two of the most dangerous diseases for pregnant women that can be transmitted through foods such as raw meats and raw milk. The pathogens of these diseases overcome the natural placental barrier and thus harm the unborn child. Therefore, it is especially important for expectant mothers to know about the refrigerator and supermarket.

1. fish and meat

Tartar or carpaccio and all other raw meats are removed from the diet during pregnancy. Even smarter fish products - such as garved salmon, cold smoked fish and sushi should also be avoided. Fish and meat are no problem if cooked well.

2. Milk and cheese

Sorry, dear pregnant women, also here we have to do without. Cottage cheese, cheese and milk that are pasteurized are not a source of danger. However, raw milk is really forbidden. In general, bacteria like to settle in the bark of the cheese, so that soft-cheese such as Brie or Camenbert hold a higher risk. Rotschimmelkäse, such as Münster or Limburg should also avoid. With cheese in general applies: The longer the cheese ripens, the more harmless the consumption is. Raw milk cheese must be labeled in Germany and is therefore easy to recognize.

3.Fruit and vegetables

All fruits and vegetables are basically edible for pregnant women. However, you should make sure that everything is always washed off well.

If you pay attention to these little hints, you do not have to worry about your pregnancy. And do not worry: Rollmops is not raw, but cooked in brine. There's nothing in the way of the cream cake rollmop binge.
