Two years after the death of her beloved husband

After 62 years of marriage, the writer had to bury her beloved husband in March 2009. In the interview, she tells how she masters her life without him.

How are you doing in wintry Scotland? Rosamunde Pilcher: In the cold, not even my dogs like the door. But in my bungalow it is warm and cozy. I hope that the electricity does not turn off again, as it did last winter. Do you dare to go out in the winter weather? Rosamunde Pilcher: My boots have good soles. But of course I avoid icy surfaces. I do not want to break my hip. That was missing. In bad weather, I do not even have to get out, because the freezer is always packed with edibles. In the summer you were operated on the cataract ... Rosamunde Pilcher: The operation was a great success, I'm fine. My eyes are now as good as they were at my best. Do you feel lonely without your Graham? Rosamunde Pilcher: Luckily I'm not a lonely person. December 7th was my 64th wedding anniversary. I had not thought of it until my son Robin congratulated me on shopping in the supermarket with a large bouquet of flowers. A nice surprise!

Do you miss your husband? Rosamunde Pilcher: My time of mourning is over. I can not get into mourning, be unhappy, and make a long face because of a man who has had such a long and fulfilling life. That would be morally wrong. I want to show the world a happy face again. I am so grateful and glad for our beautiful memories together that he was spared a long time of dying. What is your biggest wish for the New Year? Rosamunde Pilcher: The world is not in good shape. It would be nice if everything would be a little more peaceful.
