The Mazda CX-5 offers plenty of space and driving pleasure

Wunderweib has tested the new SUV model from Mazda. The CX-5 convinces with driving pleasure, high safety standards as well as plenty of space and comfort.

The Mazda CX-5 is a dream. Huge, red, totschick. The cheetah-inspired design makes my heart beat faster. If I chase this car across the highway, other cars frighten on the right as soon as they see the red car in the rearview mirror. The test track: from a Hamburg underground car park to the beach of St. Peter-Ording.

The garage is still a bit horror. City garages are simply not made for rather large crossover SUVs. But after three very slowly maneuvered corners we are outside and make the asphalt uncertain. Every meter is fun. The CX-5 is easy to control with its six-speed automatic transmission, the pedals are taut, the multifunction steering wheel feels comfortable and belongs to the harder variety, the steering is very direct.

The Mazda CX-5 gives a sense of security

The car is safe on the road, even in heavy rain on the highway, I feel not a second uncertain. The rain sensor does a great job and controls the windscreen wipers by itself. The high-beam assistant works just as independently. The system automatically switches between high and low beam - simply fantastic.

The interior offers a lot of space

The interior of the car is solid and impresses with chic black and silver. The controls can be operated intuitively, the media system with the integrated navigation device in the center console is fast and the 5.8-inch color monitor from the driver's seat is easy to see. The interior is nice and spacious and the seats are really comfortable.

The car offers a good view to the outside

Good is the view to the outside, even to the rear I can see well. When parking, I still need some help from the park assistant. The back corners are a bit difficult to judge because of the considerable size of the car. But this SUV delivers with the increased seating position of the occupants just this sense of security, especially appreciated by women.

Speaking of when the women still want to take children, dogs, bags, suitcases and husbands: No problem with the Mazda CX-5! Everything fits in, guaranteed! Up to 1, 620 liters of cargo volume are possible. And if you want to the beach: off for it! The little bit of sand and hoppelpiste will not scare the CX-5.

And what does the fancy SUV cost? Our test car had a value of around 30, 000 euros. The entry-level model is available for 23, 990 euros.
