Many women suffer from severe abdominal pain every month for a few days each month for their menstruation. From woman to woman the pain varies greatly. Often, however, they are so bad that they have to report sick, or, out of shame and because they can not afford, but still laboriously to work to drag.

Holidays with menstrual cramps?

Now that the question of paid menstrual leave has been discussed for several years, Italy now seems to have taken a significant step towards it. There is a draft law stating that if women can show severe menstrual pain with a medical certificate, they will be entitled to 3 leave a month.

Problem: equal rights

What great news for all women, one would think. Nevertheless, the opinions on the paid holidays are split.

Because many fear that the equal rights of men and women could suffer and that women, for example, would find it harder to find a job. Employers could not hire women for fear of so many days off. ... and then Italy is also one of the countries in Europe with the lowest female employment rate: only 61 percent of Italian women have a job (the European average is 72 percent).
