Is yoga really that much "Ommm"? And can I actually do that if I'm normal-jointed? Our editor has gone to her very first yoga class for you and cleans up with a few prejudices.

- 60 minutes of yoga: a feeling like newborn
My very first yoga class is imminent. I'm honestly a little nervous, after all, I would like to make myself completely undreamt of all my skills with my non-experience. What calms me once: Optically I fit without shoes once very well into the picture. Suddenly the door opens to the room in front of which the group waits. "Come in, dear ones, we can get started, " it softly sounds from the mouth of a small woman whose slender, trained body immediately indicates that she is the teacher.
Yoga and music? Wrong!
Martina - that's the name of the yoga teacher - is already waiting ready to stand in front of her mat. "Oh, a new face, " she calls across the room, nodding, smiling. "Spread your mat where you want, there are no fixed places, " she tells me, after realizing that I'm looking around the room a bit unsure. "Thanks, " I call to her and place myself in the second row from behind, but for that - quite courageously - in the middle. Now that everyone has found their place, it will surely be a nice relaxing music. At least that was my assumption until I was taught otherwise. No music, instead the pure silence.
I find that strange at first because then I can even hear the growl of the stomach from my classmate at the other end of the room. On the other hand, a little break from the daily continuous sounding is probably quite good. And rest and time-out are equally the meaning of a yoga class.
Nothing was heard of "Ommm" & Co
We start with a light warm-up program before we start the actual exercises. Personally, I like that very much, because that's the only way I have to jump into lukewarm water. The exercises all have such funny names as "the dog", "the warrior" or "half the grasshopper". I have to smile a little every time one of these names falls. What surprised me very positively is that I have no problems implementing the exercises. That was my biggest concern at the beginning, that I may not be flexible enough. Rather, I have to struggle with holding the positions in the exercises, because that really costs a lot of power. At this point, therefore, it should also be said once again: Who believes that yoga is not exhausting, he is mistaken and will soon realize at the first attempt that the opposite is the case. The next day I had a lot of soreness. And in places where I did not suspect any muscles.

As my first yoga class progresses, I wonder when the point will come where we all say "Ommm" together. I wait in vain and afterwards learn that this is not necessarily the case with yoga, and in most cases only with certain forms of yoga. I just want to be right, because I think that would not have been mine. Why? Because I just do not feel spiritual enough for that.
60 minutes of yoga: a feeling like newborn
That's really true! I feel very relaxed and relaxed as the trainer ends the lesson and lets us back into the normal madness of everyday life. I am convinced that nothing can upset me today. Alone for this feeling it was worthwhile to participate in a yoga class. And even so, I can well imagine continuing to visit a yoga class. Not only because it was fun, but because I find that it leaves a very good feeling - both physically and mentally.
