Crawling souvenir

Since the Queen (86) should be more than "not amused". More than a hundred of their Coldstream guardsmen are said to have infected themselves in Germany with scabies .

The Coldstream Guard is one of Queen Elizabeth's personal regiments guarding Windsor Castle. Every day the guardsmen march from their barracks to the changing of the guards - dressed in a red uniform and with an oversized fur hat. There they do one thing above all else: standing still.

But this is exactly what should be difficult at the moment. More than a hundred men are said to have brought crawling souvenirs from a military exercise in Germany: mites that give their eggs their eggs under the skin and thus provide for proper itching and derangement. Not so many guardsmen have been plagued by scabies since the Korean War, it is said. Not even in Afghanistan would there have been such a disease outbreak. Usually you can find the nasty little plagues in very unhygienic places - in a military exercise infestation is therefore quite in the realm of possibility ...

In the meantime, blankets and clothes were changed, cabinets cleared and offices disinfected. The victims should not have had any contact with the royal family. So the Corgis of the Queen have been lucky again ...
