The photographer of this photo is unknown. Spicy: The picture was sold to the Daily Mirror two days after the engagement of Diana and Charles. However, he did not publish the picture. The photo was held back. But why?
Did one fear a scandal? Did the royal family want to cover up a previous love of Diana ? Did you want to save the wedding that a whole country was looking forward to?
Meanwhile, the photo has landed at the agency "Caren Archive", which now auctions the photo. The picture itself may not be quite as scandalous as the imprint: "Not for publication". This note is puzzling and suggests that the photo might have made a royal wedding impossible.
Was Lady Diana too careless, too naive to handle cameras? Who would believe that a private image, which might not be more harmless, could possibly trigger a scandal of national proportions?
