The legacy of the alleged lover

Eventually, everything comes to light. Five years after the death of Patricia Kirkwood († 2007), the alleged lover of Prince Philip (91), a musical about her life is performed. An integral part of the musical should be some letters from Philip to Patricia.

"Pat Kirkwood is angry" is the name of the musical, which sometimes dedicates itself to their marriages, divorces and alleged affairs. And this is where Prince Philip comes in.

Because the fair husband of Queen Elizabeth (86) is said to have an affair with Patricia Kirkwood. In 1948, the two are said to have met after a theatrical performance. Afterwards, they are said to have been spotted dancing and having breakfast together the next morning.

King George († 1957), the father of Elizabeth, is said to have been outraged. Just a year before, Elizabeth and Philip had married. A womanizer as a son-in-law? A scandal!

Patricia Kirkwood, however, always denied an affair. Later, Prince Philip also said that the affair was merely an invention of the press. Nevertheless, he could not completely shake off the rumors until today.

And now comes Kirkwood's life on the stage. The musical, written by opera singer Jessica Walker and starring herself in the lead, reveals private details from Prince Philips letters to Patricia for the first time.

However, the insights will not be too spectacular - after all, Jessica Walker of the royal biographer Michael Thornton himself got insight into the letters. Thornton told British Express that, "I was so impressed with her research into Pat's life that I made her aware of short, significant passages in the letters - and these are quoted in her play."

Big revelations will therefore not result - and that's probably good ...
