They take over the scepter after the abdication of King Albert

It is a great opportunity for the Belgian monarchy: when King Albert of Belgium (79) abdicates on National Day, 21st July and Crown Prince Philippe (53) and his wife Mathilde (40) follow him to the throne, the royal house could be new Experience an upwind.

For Crown Princess Mathilde, the new Queen of Belgium, is extremely popular. The Blaublüter born of an old Polish nobility and has taken the heart of the Belgians by their gentleness, charm and style by storm.

Her husband Philippe, however, was often criticized and questioned. He had no charisma, could not represent the crown adequately, they said.

The libel, however, did not disturb Philippe and Mathilde. They showed themselves close to the people and as a normal family. With her four children Elisabeth (11), Gabriel (9), Emmanuel (7) and Eléonor (5), the future royal couple often shows in public. The children go to a normal school and only in May took the Crown Prince for the first time in a public fun run - without any special treatment. Mathilde and the children cheered him.

Philippe and Mathilde are doing something really meanwhile. And the fashion-conscious Mathilde, who does not have to hide behind style icons like Princess Mary or Queen Máxima, will certainly make one or the other fashion statement.

Incidentally, Mathilde understands herself excellently with Queen Máxima. She is even godmother of her daughter Alexia (8). In her, she has not only a role model for her future role as Queen, but also a good friend and supporter.

A rosy future for the new Belgian royal couple ...
