Web companies such as Mister Spex or brille24.de can offer such prices because, for example, they do not maintain an expensive store network. But there are also disadvantages with online glasses : Diopter number and astigmatism can not be determined online. "But if you 've had an eye exam before, you can think about getting your glasses online, " says. Dr. Georg Eckert from the professional association of ophthalmologists .
But he also points out: "The glasses have to be adapted to the wearer". However, the online shops are now preparing for this. Mister Spex, for example, works together with partner opticians all over Germany, where an eye test and the subsequent adaptation of the online glasses are possible.
