In East Westphalia, water providers are struggling with drinking water bottlenecks. "Due to the continuing drought there is water shortage, " reported the city of Löhne (Minden-Lübbecke). Affected are the cities of Löhne, Bad Oeynhausen and the communities Hüllhorst and Hille in the area of the water procurement association "Am Wiehen" with about 120 000 people.
Citizens are urged to refrain from blasting their gardens and filling pools with drinking water. "Even working with high-pressure cleaners must be avoided, " it says in the call of the city.
According to the head of water supply of the businesses Löhne, Klaus Wilmsmeier, in the afternoon fire trucks should drive through the districts. They should use loudspeaker announcements to urge citizens to refrain from blasting the gardens.
