Law changes in April
Cheap phone calls abroad and faster expulsion for criminal aliens: From April 1, some new laws come into force. We introduce the most important changes on consumer protection, education, health and asylum
asylum
The new regulations on the subject of asylum law came into force on 17.3.2016. The asylum package II includes on the one hand new reception facilities, on the other hand the family reunification is suspended for parts of the refugees. Overall, the process should be accelerated. Furthermore, after the New Year's Eve in Cologne delinquent foreigners will be expelled faster in the future.
education
Innovations in the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz are intended to improve the career of aspiring scientists. For example, the contracts of scientific employees, for example at universities, with permanent tasks may no longer be valid for a limited time. In addition, a doctoral student statistics will be introduced for the first time, documenting the course of studies of young scientists.
health
There are changes in disability and home nursing guidelines. For example, hospital physicians are now free to issue a continuing disability certificate for a maximum of seven days upon discharge, as well as arrange home care for seven days after discharge.
consumer protection
The Youth Protection Act has been amended to increasingly protect young people from health hazards. As of 1 April 2016, a ban on the sale of e-shisha and e-cigarettes to children and adolescents applies. In addition, the mobile phone use in other EU countries cheaper.
From 30 April 2016 outgoing calls may only cost a maximum of 5 cents per minute, incoming maximum 1 cent per minute and SMS maximum 2 cents (plus the normal tariff and VAT). Surfing overseas will also be cheaper: the costs will drop to a maximum of 5 cents per megabyte. From mid-2017, the roming fees in other EU countries for the short-term use even completely eliminated!
Last but not least, there is an end to data collection: Since February 24, 2016, consumer protection associations have been able to sue companies for the inadmissible collection, processing and use of consumer data. This is to prevent data from companies without consent from being used for advertising purposes, for example.
Here the Federal Government informs in detail about all innovations.
