Punishable or allowed: Can videos be shared via Dubsmash?

For several weeks, the new app Dubsmash not only on everyone's lips, but also on millions of mobile phones. Users should be careful though.

One thing is certain: With the new app Dubsmash, video fans can definitely have a lot of fun. For several weeks, the app is already available for both Android devices as well as for iPhones.

The functionality of the app is explained below in the video. It's as simple as it is funny: the user takes a video of himself as he moves his lips in sync with a selected sound. This can be a quote from a movie, a lyrics or even a particularly funny animal sound. The Dubsmash database is diverse. The operators only provide the app itself. The different sounds are uploaded by the users.

It's up to the users' imagination how creative their conversations are with the help of this new app. Dubsmash definitely lives up to his slogan "The fun way to communicate". Jonas Drüppel, Roland Grenke and Daniel Taschik, who launched the app, certainly had a lot of fun programming.

Once the video is done, it can be shared happily. This can be done either via Whatsapp, Facebook or Instagram. However great it may be to communicate in this way, benefits should be careful when sending their videos out into the world.

Before uploading a sound to be used, each user must confirm that he is not infringing on copyrights. This is also not the case, as long as the finished video is afterwards only in its own circle of friends, that is shared in a private frame. If a video - for example, with a song text - but shared on Facebook, among others, could already cause problems. Because in order to publicly share famous quotes from films, song lyrics and Co., a license would have to be obtained in advance. The sometimes very large Facebook circles of friends are often no longer considered as private under the current law.

Operators do not have the ability to review every single sound uploaded. However, if users notice copyright infringement, they can report the particular sound through the app.

If you want to avoid the risk of copyright infringement, you can still use the app. After all, funny animal sounds are also a great message that people like to send to one or the other friend, right?
