Mourning mother in interview with Oprah Winfrey

Christmas 2011 Madonna Badger lost her three daughters and her parents in a tragic fire. This loss taught her something deeply moving.

In Badger's house on Christmas Eve in 2011 everything pointed to a beautiful family party. While Madonna Badger's mother Pauline was preparing a delicious cake, her daughter Lily (9) and twin sisters Sarah and Grace (7) decorated their home in Connecticut so beautifully for Christmas. Even Madonna's father already enjoyed the pre-Christmas mood.

No one could guess what tragedy the family was going to endure only a few hours later. On the morning of December 25, 2011, a fire suddenly breaks out in the house. Madonna Badger survives. But she stays alone. Her parents, as well as her three daughters, are killed in the fire.

This tragic incident is now almost three years back. In a special feature of Oprah Winfrey 's Super Soul Sunday, the grieving mother makes it clear how much she still suffers from the loss. These are everyday situations that remind them of their children. For example, when she sees a school bus pass by or a child hears a call for his mother, she thinks of her daughters and the sadness returns.

In these moments, the well-known New York advertising expert tries to think of the love she feels for her deceased family members.

Today, the mother wishes she knew then how much more important it was to be there for his children, rather than worrying about whether to eat organic food or attend proper schooling. "All these things - organic food - do not matter." This is what she was taught by the tragic incident that cost her daughters and her parents their lives.

The video below is just a short excerpt from Madonna's moving interview with Oprah Winfrey. On October 26, 2014 at 11 am (American time), the entire conversation will be on OWN and online in the live stream.
