The most heartfelt Father's Day card ever
Twenty-six years ago, Duane Schrock wrote his father a card. Today she finally reached his receiver. But Duane Schrock is already dead.
When the child dies in front of the parents, the parents die inwardly. What it means to lose a child is hard to put into words - not even after 26 years. All the better that there are stories like that of Duane Schrock senior - an 87-year-old man who has probably just received the best gift of his life.
It's been 26 years since his son, Duane Schrock Junior, died of AIDS. The relationship between the two - tense. The reason: Duane Schrock Junior is gay. A thing with which his father can hardly handle. Today - many years later - the mourning father reaches a card that brings tears to his eyes. "I still have tears when I think about it, " says the 87-year-old American news broadcaster WSET.
"It is a sign of heaven"
Duane Schrock Junior wrote his father a card for Father's Day in 1989. "Dear dad, " it says on the map, according to ABC News. "We have not talked for a while, I'm fine and I'm very happy in Richmond, I'd like to hear from you. Have a nice Father's Day. In love, Duane. "Twenty-six years later, she finally found her way home. "Someone has to take it and carry it around and send it after all these years, " says Schrock.
