A lucky fairy brought them together
Mostly, love comes unexpectedly. But sometimes she has to be helped - like Máxima (41) and Willem-Alexander (45). Until now, it has always been said that Holland's future king and his beautiful wife happened to meet in Seville. But that's not quite true, as revealed now. There was something like a lucky fairy whom she brought together.
In the book "Máxima - Queen of the Netherlands" is now accurately described how the love of the couple really began ...
It was 1999: Máxima studied in New York and had a broken heart after a breakup. But there was her friend Cynthia Kaufmann. The reversed in the best circles and had met four years earlier Willem-Alexander in the New York Marathon. And she had the feeling that he and Maxima would fit together well. So Cynthia sent photos of Máxima to the Dutch prince - and assured him, "When you first meet them, you will fall in love with them!"
Cynthia persuaded Máxima to come to Seville for a party, where Willem-Alexander was also invited. And then fate took its course. Máxima was not very enthusiastic about his dance skills, compared him laughing with a wooden board. But the spark jumped over - at least with Willem-Alexander. In the aftermath he called Máxima again and again, until she finally met with him in New York - and also fell in love. What followed is history.
But without Máxima's lucky fairy, we might not be able to experience such a radiant new royal couple in two weeks ...
