Away with the glitter, get away with the glamor! Fashion designer Marc Jacobs thought so too this year at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in the Big Apple, where the designer presented his spring / summer 2015 collection. Because: All models sent Jacobs without make-up on the catwalk.
Courage to blemish
Blemishes? Eye bags? Redness? Nothing could be cheated away at this show. The icing on the cake of these looks: Bye, beautiful model hair - here with the standard wig for everyone. An artificial, black-colored Bob framed every unvarnished model face. This is how happy-eyed dreamwomen like "Victoria's Secret" Angel Adriana Lima or Candice Swanepoel disappeared behind a simple façade with a serious look.
And what's the point?
Designer Marc Jacobs wanted to turn his catwalk beauties into a model army, matching the military-inspired uniform collection. The transformation of these dream women into a gray army mouse has been done so well, that one does not recognize at first glance, who is walking over the catwalk.
