So everyone becomes a pocket designer

Having customers join in is now a good thing in many fashion houses. Now Fendi takes a new step and lets hobby artists design the legendary baguette themselves - via app.

Fendi's baguette took off her it-bag status in the late 1990s, when Sarah Jessica Parker aka Carrie took her under the arm in Sex and the City. That was the reason why the sales of the bag designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi in 1997 were going to be infinite. The waiting list has been so long that customers practically begged to be at the top.

Since then, the elongated bag has been made in just about every possible material. In 2007, Fendi even brought a DIY kit on the market, with which you could design your baguette bag yourself. Included in the set: a white baguette canvas model and pens - for around 4, 000 euros!

What worked less well in 2007 now makes up for the technology: The brand just launched the free app MyBaguette , which will allow anyone to become a designer (and minor flaws are not as catastrophic as on the wickedly expensive real version).

His finished artworks can be send to Fendi, where the most beautiful designs for the virtual art gallery of the app are selected. The highlight: Silvia Venturini Fendi picks the best bag every month!

For inspiration, Fendi has ever asked some artists to design the baguette. The results can be seen in the gallery and video below. Well then: Happy work!
