Retreat to private

An era comes to an end. Margot Hellwig (71) was on stage for 66 years - for a long time together with her mother Maria, who died two years ago († 90). Now Margot Hellwig says goodbye . She does not want to go on tour.

It is a sad moment for folk music fans. But this decision was inevitable. "I want to be more at home and for my husband, " said Margot Hellwig in an interview with a major tabloid.

Her husband Arthur Lindermayr (85) suffers from Parkinson's. "As long as I'm healthy, I'll take care of him, one to take care of the other, and I'm looking forward to being at home, because I like to cook, cook and play the piano, " she says.

The decision was made to conclude the "Spring Festival of Surprises" tour in May. Only presenter Florian Silbereisen (31) knew about her decision. "I had the feeling on the tour, it can not be any more beautiful, I have had fantastic times and will only make individual appearances."

It is not a complete farewell to the stage, so fans can look forward to some concert highlights. However, Margot Hellwig will first travel to Rome with her husband for his birthday on 4 November. There they married ecclesiastically 51 years ago. A revival of love! A great birthday present!
