Sunflowers were his wife's favorite flower

When his wife, Babbette, died of cancer last year, her husband Don gave her beautiful proof of love. An area of sunflowers several kilometers long has now become a luminous symbol of hope.

Sunflowers were the favorite flowers of the late Babbette Jaquish. She loved the plants with the yellow flower so much that they even gave her the nickname "Sunflower Lady".

After his wife died last November due to her cancer, Farmer Don Jaquish from Wisconsin decided to show his love for his wife with a very special gesture. In the spring after her death, he sowed sunflower on a total of 7.2 kilometers in length . Meanwhile, the individual fields are in full bloom and not only look beautiful, but also serves a good cause.

Because Don plans to offer the seeds of the flowers for sale. Part of the proceeds will be used, among other things, for research into cancer and other diseases. Babbette Jaquish himself fought multiple myeloma, a bone marrow cancer , for nine years . Originally the doctors gave her after the diagnosis in the spring of 2006, only two weeks to two months to live, but Babbette did not give up and fought bravely on. Overall, she underwent 23 treatments.

Babbette wanted to put her idea into action years ago, but her health did not allow it. So now her husband Don and Jenny White, her daughter from her first marriage, set out to make her dream come true. Neighbors helped them with their plan and without hesitation also offer parts of their own farmland for rent to help 'Babbettes' Seed of Hope' grow.

Don was very touched that so many people wanted to help him create this special memory of his wife. Now everyone can see why his women loved sunflowers so much and what a wonderful wife and mother she was who cared so much for other people.
